HUGE SUCCESS !

Our revised total is $330,787 and it only continues to grow as final donations trickle in.

Sincere thank you to all the team captains who cajole and poke and prod their team members. Who constantly remind people to get their donations. Who organize endless BBQs, yard sales, silent auctions, bake sales, and car washes. We couldn't do it without you.

And to all our individual participants who may be reading - Thank you too ! Every single dollar counts and stays in the Atlantic Region to help your friends and family. Well 75% of it.

Take a rest, have a Happy Thanksgiving and New Year and we'll talk again in 2008 !

Beth :)

Final days countdown !

The last days are upon us and all your hard work has lead you to this moment. A few things to make life easier.

1. Remember to deposit money at the CIBC bank.
2. Remember not to leave your form at the bank.
3. Remember to collect all the forms from all your team members.
4. Bring all your forms with you when you come to get your team shirts.
5. Yes there are extra shirts for late team joiners.
6. Give your team a big pat on the back when you pass out the shirts.
7. Organize a meeting place for your team - the second tree on the right, the parking lot, the stairs. You need a meeting place.

8. Bring a couple of dollars with you this year. The committee will be selling raffle tickets on a Melissa Etheridge signed guitar. As you may know Melissa is a survivor herself and this signed pink guitar is quite a collectors piece.

9. Have fun!
10 Have more fun!

Team T-shirt "Deadline"

The Run for the Cure gives teams the opportunity to promote themselves by having their team name printed on the back of the standard run shirt.
You must have at least 10 team members who are on their way to raising $150 in donations or willing to pay the $35 registration fee.

NO money needs to be deposited yet.

If you have a team, let us know at teams_fredericton@@cbcfrun.org (remove the extra @ before sending).

If you don't have a team yet, don't worry, you can either pick up your shirt at individual registration or we have regular shirts for teams who sign up past the printed shirt deadline.

Next year, you will know to start your team recruiting earlier :)

There will be a team captain drop in information session at Riverview Ford, corner of prospect and hanwell on Wed Sept 12, from 6 to 8 pm. If you have questions, it's the place to find answers.

Or check out the archive section of the blog, it's all applicable this year, except maybe the dates.

Thank you for being a Team Captain,
The Run Committee

The Basics

You must have at least 10 people to make a team.

Each team member must fill out a registration form OR register online. A team member can only register online if the Team Captain has FIRST created the team online.

Each team member must pay agree to pay $35 registration fee OR raise at least $150 in donations by September 14, 2007.

You must have contacted the Teams Co-chair by September 14 with your team name, and the number of people on your team.

NOTE:
A person who raises $0-$130 in donations must pay the $35 registration fee.
A person who pays the registration fee and then raises $150 does NOT get their money back

At the time of this posting there is still plenty of time (roughly 70 days!) to recruit new team members and work towards raising at least $150 per team member.

Check out the official Run website link to see the list of incentive prizes if you raise $300 or more.

Thank you for all your efforts, without you we wouldn't be that much closer to finding a cure. If you have any questions contact us at teams_fredericton@@cbcfrun.org Remove the extra @ sign before sending.
Tips for Making Bank Deposits

It's never to early to start making deposits! Here are some tips to make your trip to the bank easier:

You can make two separate deposits with each donation sheet. There are two squares for the bank to stamp it. It is the number written in pen inside the bank stamp that counts.

Have your bills and coins organized - all facing the same way and sorted - the way banks like them. You can make deposits for team members, or you can have team members make their own deposits. If you have a large deposit, with multiple sheets, add up all the bills and coins and get a total and then add up the donation sheets and make sure you have the same total.

If you have a large deposit - try not to go to the bank at lunch time :) You can make deposits at any CIBC branch - 448 Queen, Smythe Street (near Burger King), or Nashwaaksis Place.

If you don't want to make a trip to the bank you can Charge all Donations to your Credit Card. See the bottom of the donation form. You can take the money you have raised and apply it to your credit card. In October, once National has received the forms, they will charge an amount to your credit card.

The Credit Card option doesn't work if you have received Cheques payable to the Foundation. Make sure your cheques are payable to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, this is written on the bottom of the donation sheet. Verify that the person signed and dated the cheque.

...Plan Ahead !! Be patient. The Run for the Cure Committee knows how much time, effort, training and planning the CIBC puts into this event every year. We appreciate how many donation forms the Tellers process each year and we are extremely grateful. We also appreciate the time and efforts contributed by the Team Captains! With a little organization, and patience, things will go smoothly.

See you on Run Day!!

Ideas Ideas Ideas

Does your team have a "summer break"?
How do you fundraise when your office or sporting team or quilting group is "closed" for the summer?

We'd love to hear about.

A couple of fundraising examples I heard about recently:

A team is buying the 1/2 lb choclate bars and reselling them. They are actually buying them in the US but the important thing is it's a unique product that the team can get for a low investment and add a couple of dollars to the price. It adds up quickly.

Another team has set a goal (very important) and if they reach it, they get to shave their coach's head. The shaving head is common but this time it's being used as a TEAM motivator.

When I was a team captain, I put a Penny Jar in the lunch room. I put a nice sign on it and a pink ribbon. Over 6 weeks that penny jar raised 40-60 dollars. More then one of the events I had planned! And I didn't even look at it...well I checked to make sure it wasn't missing :)

Let us know what your team is doing teams_fredericton@@cbcfrun.org (remove the extra @ sign before sending)
and don't forget to send your event to Capital, KHJ and the Fox for free publicity

Team Captain Meeting

This year we will be having semi monthly team captain "meetings".

Who should attend these get togethers?

New Captains, Captains with problems or questions, Captains looking for forms or information kits.

The first one will be June 27 at 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Riverview Ford board room (corner of Hanwell and Prospect).

I imagine these "meetings" as more of a drop in with your question or problem and we'll talk about it face to face, rather then via a chain of emails or telephone tag :)

Just another contact option to make the Team Captain experience as easy as it can possibly be.

Regards,
Beth and Lauren

Just an FYI update:

There are lots of Early Bird prizes this year for online participants. Check the website for more details, drawings May 31 and June 3o and August 30.

The PINKnic, an event for breast cancer survivors (and their guest), will be held September 22 from 3-5. The Lieutenant Governor and Her Honour will be attending.

The committee has a GREAT raffle item this year, an item you won't want to miss out on - more details to follow.

All forms are in and ready for team kits. Kits were sent via inter office mail to schools, check with your office for yours. If I haven't contacted your team yet, send me an email and I'll get a team kit out to you either via the snail mail or email.

Regards,
Beth and my fellow team chair Lauren

Update

The official posters and brochures have not arrived yet from National so we haven't started sending out team kits yet.

We like to have an early start so we can send information out to the school teams before the summer break. So if you are a school team, contact me at beth.ashton@@gmail.com (remove the extra @) and I will set you up with what I have so far.

There are really no changes from last year...
Each team must have 10 members.
The cost is $35 OR $150 in donations.
Online user names and passwords are still active from last year.
The online site is up and ready for you to create your team, however there's no rush :)

Looking forward to another exciting and successful year !!
Regards,
Beth
